Chemical Invention Factory, Berlin

Since 2019, the TU Berlin has belonged to the circle of excellence universities in Germany. This reputation is to be reflected in the architecture. The new building of the Chemical Invention Factory, which stands out from the surroundings with its homogeneous façade made of recycled synthetic material and reflects the use of the interior to the outside, serves as a showpiece and new identification point for the scientists of the start-up centre and the faculty of chemistry, to which it belongs. The semi-transparent façade conceals the internal building structure and is only broken up on the ground floor to create a generous, transparent entrance gesture with alternating views in and out. Some of the panels can be opened outward to allow unfiltered views from inside and outside. This gives the façade a dynamic variability, which changes according to user preferences.
