As an outstanding example of architecture of the new practicality, the building complex of the Administrative Court and District Attorney Office in Frankfurt on the Oder occupies a prominent position in the city centre. Made necessary by agency restructuring, the refurbishment and conversion / expansion respect the historical dignity of the excellent 1930s and 1950s buildings while functionally reordering their interiors with its elegant refurbishment concept. New connector buildings in the courtyard as well as the design and colour scheme of the public areas serve for identification and create a new address for the institution in the context of the government agency.

“A clear refurbishment concept leads to a legibility of the substance and contemporary interventions.“

The new development wing in the courtyard with its dark panel façade contrasting with the light plaster façades and in particular the material and colour concept serve to identify the state authorities. The entrance to the administrative court is accentuated by a two-storey glass façade in an exposed concrete frame, which opens up to an inviting two-storey foyer on the inside. In the corners of the building, the circulation zones are widened and form high-quality designed and furnished lounge areas in front of the courtrooms. The public prosecutor’s office building is characterised by the spacious staircase with its elegantly curved flights of stairs.
