Six roofs for the multiplication table
Primary school in Heinsberg
The new primary school building is an inclusive, functional, identity-forming and attractive place. It consists of two buildings that are positioned on the site to form an address. A single-storey building forms the community centre, where the school community comes together and where the forum, cafeteria, multi-purpose rooms, a library and the administration are located. Adjacent to this is the two-storey learning building, in which the students find their teaching, differentiation and quiet rooms in two clusters arranged one above the other. The two structures are connected by a transparent joint, which acts as an inviting foyer and a point of arrival and distribution between the forecourt, community centre, learning building and schoolyard. The design is planned as a solid timber construction in the interests of sustainable and durable construction.
